The sounds have changed places. Howler monkeys on the roundabout island, the light rail train in the deposit bottle return machine, children play in the fashion salon, in the fitness studio someone just ordered a 150 g salami, and in the train station elevator there´s a trombone section practicing. Instead of withdrawing into the trusted environment of our attention, the sounds are forcing themselves to the fore in new places. Without explanation a similar SWITCH occurred in the real environments of the Swabian village of Ditzingen for two days in the fall of 2010. The installation that was created by composer Maximilian Marcoll for the festival Zukunftsmusik brought other places to 33 locations with audio equipment. The volume presented here documents this confrontation with these everyday sounds in photographs of the 33 switched locations. The sounds themselves have gone to their origins and so the viewer will just have to imagine them.
