The goal of this research project was to develop and evaluate a restoration concept for 1950s residential buildings that allows for solar energy gains to be generated and used via the building`s façade and enveloping material. The concept`s energy balance was compared with the state of the building before restoration and with a conventional façade renovation according to the Energy Savings Regulations of 2014. A team of sociologists, real estate economists, building engineers and architects developed the concept and carried out the evaluation.
